The Boston Tea Party was where the Americans threw tea out of a British ship, as depicted in this picture. They were throwing the tea out in protest of the higher prices they were being charged for the tea. What do you think that the British thought when the Americans were doing this? The British probably thought pretty badly of the Americans when they were doing this. They probably didn't favor the Americans at the time.

The Americans in the background are probably silently cheering their comrades on. They almost all support the independence of Americans, but a few people called "Loyalists." They are still loyal to Great Britain. How would you feel if you were watching friends and neighbors dumping out someone's tea that you still supported? What would you do? I would feel a little betrayed by my friends and neighbors. I would feel sad too. I would probably protest against the actions of my friends and neighbors, and feel concerned for the British.
